Avino’s range of Passive House windows are fully certified for use in Passive House projects, carrying the illustrious Passive House Certification badge at a rating of phB. Suitable for both new build, deep retrofit and EnerPHit projects.
With a combination of a solid, cross laminated timber frame, interior insulation and triple glazing, you can achieve an air tight window with Uw values from as little as 0.68 W/m2K with a glass unit of 0.54 W/m2K.
Even with this exceptional performance, design is not forgotten.

Blending the timeless design of sustainably sourced timber on the inside, with the durability of aluminium on the outside, our Timber-Aluminium composite windows are the ideal choice for anyone wanting to match the window frames to the interior design of their Passivhaus.
With a frame of solid timber in pine or oak, the interior profile of the passive house window can become part of the interior design. Cross lamination is used rather than finger jointing which offers an excellent level of interior strength and smooth detailing.
Choose from a range of stained interior finishes to maintain the natural timber look or select a RAL paint for the interior design. Externally, aluminium caps the exterior face of the passive house window to minimise maintenance of the window and elongate the life expectancy of the timber structure.
Handles are customisable, ensuring that the design suits the interior.
As standard, all framings and glazing beads are square to provide you with a modern design both inside and out.
These passive house windows are not only available in your typical tilt and turn configuration. You can also opt for inward opening side hung options as well as double opening windows with a flying mullion.
For door openings with passive house performance, the balcony door design is also fully certified for passive house performance.
Or you could opt for a tilt and slide door, opening a doorway fully by sliding the tilting window over the inside of a fixed glass unit.
All the above options are certified for passive house use.

Passive House Certified Windows
There is a difference between Passive House performance and being Passive House Certified. All the windows in the Avino Passiv range are fully Passive House Certified, allowing them to be used on true passive house projects.
The windows achieved a rating of phB in their Passive House certification, showcasing Uw values from 0.68 to 0.79 W/m2K with triple glazing.
Passive House Window Configurations
The Passive House windows are available in:
- Tilt and Turn Openings
- Inward Opening Turn Windows
- Double Opening Windows with a Flying Mullion
- Balcony Doors (with or without a low threshold)
- Tilt and Slide Doors
Please note that the low threshold door options do not carry the true Passive House certification however, do still maintain an extremely high level of thermal performance.
Material Options for Passive House Windows
The main material of the passive house window frames is solid timber. This is available in either pine or oak that can then be finished in a range of ways.
The timber finishes available include a range of stains suitable for timber or water based paints to achieve a specific colour.
Externally, the aluminium can be PPC any RAL colour.
Specification of Passive House Windows
The glass used is triple glazed as standard, offering Ug values from 0.54 W/m2K.
The maximum height possible for any of the configuration is 2600mm with a maximum weight of 130kg per sash for the turn or tilt and turn windows.
The interior sightline is 124mm however, the exterior frame is most often covered and appearance frameless within Passive House designs.
